Warping loom

I am wondering if I qualify to join. I have spent a couple of minutes here and there warping up my loom for a double weave, There were over 500 warps to sort out. Can that count as weaving? I have decided to give myself a couple of days rest from the double weave by weaving proper on my other loom. Would be most humbled if I could join your team, Paul

Having wove one of these a couple of weeks ago -but upside down (my wife liked it without having the pile cut) - I am weaving one the correct way up. Today I tentatively cut some of the weft for a pile. As it builds up I can see where I have miseed cutitng the pile on earlier wefts. Looking good so far and I'm really enjoying thise weave.

qualify Paul - as long as you are doing something every day - ideally it is weaving but weaving is so much more than sitting at the loom and throwing the shuttle.

I woke up in the middle of the night and had an idea about my loom. I find it difficult to get everything correct to get a decent shed when depressing three of the treddles and it stuck me when warping the doubleweave I want to do that it must be difficult because of the mechanics of the counterbalane. I thought there must be a way round it and I have been thinking about this before venturing into weaving with the double weave. Now I think I have come up with the answer. It might not look pretty but I am going to give it a go.

I am going to put shock cords around the beam which holds the shafts up and attach them to the shafts. Then they will individually be able to move and still be pulled up by the tension of the shock cord.

Can't wait to try it. Shame I have to go to school and teach. Mind you its only til 1 and I should be home by 1:30 and give it a go all afternoon then. The weather is perfect - rainy and dull - so no jobs to do in the garden.

I've been warping as well! I finished tying my next sample into the remains of my previous sample. While I was working, I though it wold be good to start a Tips for beginners thread. I don't want to hijack this post so if you have thoughts send me a private message!
