Hi all,

One of my coworkers wants to buy his wife a loom for Christmas.  The only catch is that he is moving to Germany tomorrow, so he will have to order it from Germany!

So....what would you recommend?  I suggested he get her a table loom and a copy of Learning to Weave by Deborah Chandler, but I'm not sure what table looms are readily available in Europe.  Can anyone point me at weaving teachers, guilds, suppliers, and equipment sources that might be available to a new weaver in the Berlin area? and recommendations for good table loom brands available in Germany?

There are good suppliers in Germany.

The Chandler book is not the best - tell him to get her the Laila Lundell book which is broader in scope. It also contains better information for meshing with European weavers.

There are good loom dealers in Germany.

Try this site:

They have a complete line of spinning and weaving tools and materials

This site is from a magazine and weaving organization Weben+:

Here is their list of advertisers (suppliers)

Louet table looms are much less expensive in Europe. Floor looms are usually countermarche or counterbalance from good loom makers and also less expensive as they don't involve freight costs.

There are some small groups of weavers there, also studios run by trained professional weavers, and plenty of opportunity to weave.

  Another very good seller is

He has a lot of used Looms in his stock. I know there is one Victoria of Glimakra, and a Louet Klik.

thank you for this link

I have ordered  plant dye (madderroot) from traub-wolle and received it within a week and payment after delivery where mostly  you have to pay in advance.

Hello,

I am a New Yorker living in Greece for the past 30 years and  weaving on my own for over 5 years. I will be in the Berlin area end April to first week in May.  I was wondering if there are any weaving stores or any must see museums, etc to visit while I will be in Berlin.  I am willing to do some travelling if necessary.  Anxiously awaiting any useful infor.
