In anticipation of my loom pick up in April (I know), I found a wonderful pattern from an old Vav magazine. It calls for number 20 linen. I'm assuming this means 20/1 linen. I'd like to simply substitute 20/2 cotton so I'm not additng more to my 'firsts' equation. Other than sett due to differences in weight of yarn or yarnds per pound, is there anything else I should consider?
The number 20 singles linen
The number 20 singles linen made now is only useful as warp when experience and sizing come into play. You can easily substitute 20/2 cotton or 40/2 linen - both are very sturdy so you can concentrate on that first project.
As always with weaving, one step at a time.
