I created a draft on my ipad and would like ot use it for threading from my iPhone.  How do I get the draft from the ipad to the iphone?  I"m sure it's through the Cloud but I cannot find instructions for doing this.

Hi Claudia,

After you have completed the draft on the iPad and saved it to your database, at the WIF 'n Proof home screen tap on 'Import/Export'.  Then, at the next screen, tap on 'Export'. 

On the export screen, tap on the WIF file you wish to transfer and then enter your username (usually your first name) and your WIF 'n Proof 'Cloud' password.  Tap on 'Submit'.  Once WIF 'n Proof has located your 'Cloud' account, the 'Submit' button changes to 'Export'.  Tap on 'Export'.

On your iPhone, tap on 'Import/Export' at the Home Screen, then on 'Import'.  Enter your username and password and tap on 'Submit Password'.  As soon as WIF 'n Proof has found your WIF file, the name of the file will be displayed and the 'Import' button will be active.  Tap on 'Import'.  Done!

excellent. Thanks Helen. It worked perfectly and now I can thread the loom using my iPhone. One other question. In creating the treadling, it there a way to indicate this is an overshot pattern? Some pics will be pattern weft with the ground weft in between. I do not plan on putting the treadling in for all the ground weft if I can just indicate it's overshot somewhere. Thanks, Claudia

Good question, Claudia.  For the moment, there is no way to indicate ground weft shots vs pattern.  It is, however, on the list of possible improvements.

Yes, Claudia, you can.  This is a new feature I added yesterday to the free WIF 'n Proof 'Cloud' service.  

On your PC or Mac, using Safari or Chrome as your browser, go to the 'Cloud' website.  Enter your username and password and click on 'Login'.  There is a new button at the bottom of the screen - 'Download WIF'.  This button will be enabled only if you have a WIF file in your account. 

To download the WIF file, tap on 'Download WIF'.  The WIF file will be displayed in the large text window.  You will use 'copy and paste' to transfer it to your computer.

Click anywhere in the text to put the cursor in the text window and then copy the entire file - type Cntrl-A to select the entire text, then Cntrl-C to copy it.  (On the Mac, type Cmd-A, then Cmd-C.)  Open NotePad (TextEdit on the Mac).  Start a new document and paste the text - type Cntrl-V on the PC, Cmd-V on the Mac.  Save the file with a .WIF extension.

Complete instructions for this new feature are not yet in the manual.  An update will be released soon and the new manual will then be posted.  If you have problems, feel free to email me at [email protected].

NOTE:  On the Mac using Mountain Lion, the default file format for TextEdit is now rich text rather than plain text.  You must change the format to plain text (use the Format menu) before pasting the WIF file.  If the format is left as rich text, your desktop weaving software will not be able to read it.
