As promised, we started our holiday sight seeing with the Lavenham Guild hall. Lavenham was part of the English wool market rom the 14th C. Lavenham was a woollen town, making woollen cloth, rather than a wool town. The Guild Hall itself was built in the 1500's just before the bottom fell out of the English woven woollen market, but thankfully has been preserved. Later it was used as a prision and an orphanage, and today preserves much of the Suffolk history. :)
