I had a beautiful loom bench made to order but it's a bit heavy.  Does anyone have suggestions on ways to make it slide easily on my hardwood floor?  It has felt pads on it now but still takes work to slide in and out on, which I do often when weaving.

Maybe put it on a small rug that has no non-slip backing?  That's what I use for my piano bench.  I have felt pads on my weaving bench and it slides easily on those.

I have a thick felt rug from Uzbekestan that I think will do the trick.  Thanks very much for your suggestion!

Canvas backed carpet squares stuck or pinned to legs if smooth, sanded floor..or small roller style castors?

Great ideas.  And I had been looking into the little casters, like mounted ball bearings, wondering if they would work.  I want the bench to move, but not so easily that I'm sliding around the floor while weaving.  Thanks again.

When I have something I want to slide easily, but not skate around, I put pirces of UHMW plastic on it.  Ultra high moleculare weight plastics (like Delrin) are slick.  It is available in sheets, or in a rolled up narrow strip.  Seems to me I have some that was self stick.

BTW, you you explain the conection between figuring out how to tie a loom up and shaft switching?  Your answer to the individual trying to figure out his new loom seems odd.
