Didn't get this posted last night so . . .   I will be spinning this month (my new obsession) as I participate in the Tour De Fleece which runs concurrenty with the Tour de France. I do have the warping board set up and  three cones of 8/2 cotton ready to wind on a warp. Maybe this Friday as I take a day off from work to celebrate Independence Day (USA),I will put on a patriotic movie or some rip roaring patriotic music and warp away! Keep sharing your projects, triumphs and occassional frustrations - love to see what everyone is up to. Weave on everyone.

Sally, I will be in Rhode Island between August 13 and August 27th.  I am willing to do some work to try to locate your camera.  If its still missing in august, PM me, and I'll try to help.

Reedguy - great blanket!  My daughter wants a cuddly wool blanket, and am looking for suggestions on the type of wool.  I think she wants it for cocooning when she watches TV.

No weaverliness here other than thinking and planning - garden, building kitchen cabinets (from kit), and work are taking up a lot of my time.  But thanks to all of you, I can go along vicariously.

It was a Panasonic Luminex, older model black body with lots of wear. They can keep the camera and extra batteries I had in the case, I just want the disk of images. ;-)

Also, there might still be some exhibits in town from the conference when you are there. Check out the HGA gallery guide for locations and dates.

Here's a shout out to Tommye S. Page 9 of the current issue of VAV magazine mentions her blog!

several weeks now but lots of spinning and knitting. Now I did go on the Webs site last night an ordered some yarn - does that count as weaverliness?

My time at Convergence (on day passes) and then at the American Tapestry Alliance events (Sat. meeting/presentations in Providence followed by a 3-day ATA workshop/retreat at the Kingston URI campus) was just great.  And exhausting!  I'm on the recovery mode and getting back to the studio work slowly but surely.

I also have been very busy and away from the loom, but I'm getting back to it.  The trip to visit family in Australia was wonderful, but exhausting.  It's taken almost three weeks to get my inner clock working on Pacific Time again.  I have finished up one scarf that I started back in April, and am getting ready to weave the next one off the loom.  I've got two blankets that need edge binding; one is a baby blanket I made while the other is my poor wool blanket from England.  I've got to get on the bench, so to speak, as the semester starts in three weeks. Eek!

I spent any spare time this week de-rusting this 1950's loom and rethreading the warp. (There was NO cross!!!) Seems to be working great! I want to make a pair of steampunk goggles to go with the loom for demonstrating at the state fair next weekend. I am following Darren's online instructions for "Dollar Store Steam Punk Glasses." I think I have invested about $20 including the two cans of orange juice. So far... so good. (Yes, I wish I could post photos.)

Such great progress as always. I always used Harrisville when I lived in the States. Ir's JC Rennie, a Scottish mill, for me in the UK. Their 9/2 wool makes the cuddliest cloth!

I caught up on Tommye'a blog on tge train ride to London this week. It is a fabulous blog, rich in great images and inspiration. You have been fabulously busy Tommye.

Sally I can't wait to see photos of tge newly derusted loom, you, and your steam punk goggles! Good luck on retrieving your lost photos.

For me I've woven approximately 20" on my commission undulating point twill cloth!! If I can keep it up my friend should have it and be able to wear it in Wales next week. Well it would have to cool off enough to wear it too!

I went to the SW of the US for vacation.  Went to the Grand Canyon, Bryce NP, Zion NP, and Cedar Breaks NM.  How inspiring for weaving, the colors and depths to the canyons - has me all fired up!  So, came home, went back to my loom and there on my Cranbrook are the colors of the canyonlands:  sand, the red of the iron-infused sandstone of Bryce Canyon, and the greys of lava rocks all in my shawl.

Yeah Sally the Nadeau loom is operational! I wish I could see you at the State Fair, too much fun! Tommye I went to visit your blog too. I love the Stones Tapestry. The coloring is subtle yet rich. Enjoyed the pix from Peters Valley too:) Theresac and Erica , I really enjoyed seeing what's on your looms! Today I worked on my tapestry color study of sunset. Just finished the small grassy area and have started the lake. Practice, practice, practice!

There is nothing like visiting another weaver to get motivated.  Thursday I visited a little shop in the middle of Utah where they weave and sell rag rugs.  (Lizzie and Charlie's)So I went home and made a 13 yard warp for towels and put it on my Weavebird.  I got in on and threaded in two days.  I put on a point twill and have the first towel half done.  I needed the motivation.

I was in the same territory in early July, I think you caught the colors of the west quite well!

I think I'm going to do a drawing to study value contrasts for my sunset study. I seem to be all over the place, which means, you know what, ripping it out, oh my! Or starting over :) I remember my drawing teacher saying last year, it's all about Value, and He's partially right, the rest comes from within. Drawing today.

It is just serendipity regarding the colors on my loom.  The project was already mostly woven when I went on vacation and when I came home I found the canyonlands right on my loom:-)

We drove through those parts of Utah, but sadly didn't stop. We did spent the weekend near Fruitland in late July though.

And my big news for today the long lasting commissioned fabric is done!!! No really it's wet finished and everything!

Taking advantage of the fact I finished a warp and he's been scandalously naked for two weeks, I was able to finally address what was a long standing ailment.

He got a new oak front peg, anchored in securely by drilling though the frame and putting a wedge into the base of the peg to keep it straight when under tension.

He doesn't look so pretty from the one side, but I'll take better function over flawless beauty any day!
