I was able to do some trials for the 5R and 5YR targets last weekend in parallel while I was finishing up on my pure color dyeing with yellow and national blue. I've posted my WIP worksheet. Some of my trials were more about learning what some of the changes do rather than trying to specifically hit the target, since I've never done anything like this before. I should be able to focus better with some of the understanding that I'm (slowly) gaining.
One of the things that I found surprising was that some of the skeins that I had mentally tagged as being the closest to the target after the dyeing and after the drying, were not the closest ones after chipping and notating.
I think my next step for 5R is straightforward, but I'm going to have to give 5YR more thought before my next steps. I'll try to do some other color trials in parallel this weekend too.
