I'm working with a loom built in Ohio in 1790 which is missing some parts.

The single remaining lamm is very square, with no apparent holes except where it attaches to the rod.

For historic CB looms, was the practice to attach by winding cord around the lamm rather than dropping cord through it?

Info welcome!

Fo.r a loom like yours, there isn't any common practise.  It iwas whatever the maker knew.  My ~1750 loom had no lamms, just two shaft.  Brake sytems show a lot of variation, too.
