Beautiful!!
Beautiful, beautiful
Stunning!
Susan, your blanket is gorgeous! Love the color gradations. And the surface seems to GLOW! Is this your design, or is it "out there" to read. I'd love to try this for a friend's baby.
The draft is on handwoven.net
(although I changed the treadling a little), but the color scheme is mine. I can share it with you if you'd like.
My Favorite Part of Weavolution
Looking at projects done by others, is my favorite part of Weavolution. I just wish that Weavolution would add a pattern site like Ravelry has where others can post and sell their creations. Your's is absolutely beautiful. I have done similar gradiations with similar colors. They are so incredible to look at when the weaving starts to its finish! The close up picture of the weave really shows how beautiful this blanket will be when completed. Wish I was your friend's baby!!!! =^.^=
More Reason....
...to get back on my looms! Have been away much too long! Which draft on Handwoven did you use?

The handwoven draft
is #13925, Hearts by Judie Eatough. If you click the word "hearts" where it says draft above, you can see the minor change I made to the treadling pattern.
Colors in warp changed by weft color
Does the color blue in the weft create the softening of the warp colors? Does the solid weft create the blend in the warp stripes?
I chose light weft colors
to try to soften the warp colors. The three weft stripes you see in the 3rd and 4th picture are the colors I chose for the blankets, the 4th color weft (purple) I just did for fun and to see how a darker color would work. The weft does help blend the warp stripes, but (as you can see from the picture of the warp on the loom) I threaded the warp as color gradients. I found it hard to get pictures that reflected the true colors, the finished weaving looks darker than these pictures show.
Color interactions
I share your frustration with photography when reproducing colors accurately is important. Looking at the weft stripes after reading your comment about the purple, I realized I really like it and get a sense that it is/could easily become iridescent. After reality check, perhaps others will advise about how to best foster the iridescent quality. For a baby blanket, that could provide a great strategy for gender neutral coloring.
Iridescence
i'd love more information on fostering iridescence. I have seen some in the purple weft stripe, but it also shows up where the pink weft intersects the darker blues. I wouldn't have thought that this weave structure would be conducive to iridescence, of that that color interaction would produce it.
