- About me
I learned to do simple weaving as a child on a frame loom my grandfather made me, taught by elder women in my family. I am an artist, and finally made it back to weaving; it feels like coming home. After much searching, I finally acquired a loom I could afford, a serviceable Artisat that will allow me to explore and learn. Right after refurbishing the loom, I broke a foot, and was limited to treadling with one foot. Tied up so I could treadle with one foot, and started with rag rugs, which I found I can do on the Artisat with bracing and some body English! In early 2011) I ordered some cotton, tencel, and bamboo, and am gradually taking on more complex patterns and projects. I acquired a decond-hand stash of various wool -- many yummy textures and colors-- and am looking forward to experimenting with. I am so inspired by what other people are doing that I keep wanting to stretch my horizons and even plan to build a small frame loom like the one my grandfather made me all those years ago to spring my creative juices and use up all the loom ends I'm acquiring!
