About me

lianasloom.com is my business website.  I sell my purses and jewelry as well as the alpaca rovings and batts made from the fleece that I buy from a local ranch.

I also make dog beds from dog hair and moahir.  So far they are sold before I am able to put them up on the website.  A satisfied new owner of a rescued dog was the owner of my first dog bed and she said it was her favorite place to lay.  It made her happy that the dog felt so at home so quickly.

I also have woven my husband and his family their Tartan.  It was a joy to weave it for a 100 Birthday Celebration for their father.  I never knew him but I enjoyed honoring him in this manner.  My sister-in-law who is an organizer and set designer, helped me frame them in Shadow Boxes and print the story of the tartan and the pattern, then carefully place it behind to tell the story of the O'Bannon clan.  It was a real sight to see when my husband noticed it finished and hanging in our entryway.  He was so surprised, which is just what I had hoped for.  It was the first real thing to come of of my new loom.  It was a 20th Wedding Anniversary present from him and I was so happy to honor him and his family with my first work!

And this year is the first time I was able to teach weaving to a student at the Master's College.  She was able to earn 3 credits for the independent study class in my home and she was such a joy to teach.  She was very excited to learn all she could in the semester I had with her.  She finished 5 placematts, two Shetland Shawls and the twill fabric for a skirt.  It was a very fast and fun semester.  She came to my home twice a week and I was there to see her give her final presentation on weaving to her class.  It was a real honor to pass on the joy of weaving to another generation.
