Trained as a writer and editor, I discovered weaving 10 years ago and haven't looked back. I love experimenting with structures to see what else I can do with them. I've also found that writing about weaving is a lot more engaging than writing about another marketing plan, and have been fortunate to have several stories published in Handwoven. More are in the works.
A strong proponent of weaving and fiber guilds, I have been active from the beginning, making lifelong friends who share my particular obsession. I look forward to meeting even more of you at conferences and through Weavolution.
In December 2009 I teamed up with Barb Butler to open sutherland Handweaving Gallery and Teaching Studio in CURVE studios & garden in Asheville, NC's River Arts District. We sell our one of a kind and limited edition handwovens and I teach a series of weaving classes and workshops for beginners through intermediate weavers. We also offer informal gatherings twice a month for local weavers we call Web Chats AT sutherland.
Beginning weaving in a series from plain weave and twills, through advanced twills, overshot and lace weaves. Also workshops in Rep Weave and Color and Weave.
