Before I purchased temples from Paradise Fibers at $45 to $55 each (wow!) for my new-to-me 4 shaft loom, I used a homemade temple set that I read about in this website. They worked really well on my rigid heddle loom.
Disclaimer: I'm a newbie weaver so there may be better ideas out there.
