- About me
When I was 21 I made a large tapestry loom by hand, with a wooden frame, a lot of finishing nails for the warp threads, a rod with cotton thread loops for the reed, and a long dowel for the warp beater. I started a tapestry of the Golden Gate Bridge over the San Francisco Bay. At the time I did not realize that this project would take me the rest of my life to complete! It was just too large. In time I abandoned it when it was only about 8% done.
Forty years later my wife had taken up the Spinning Wheel, spinning wool into thread. She also is very accomplished at knitting, crocheting, sewing and needlepoint. I thought that it would be fun to weave the thread she spun into fabric. So I purchased an Ashford 16 inch Rigid Heddle loom, and here I am. It really is fun sharing hobbies with your spouse. I highly recommend it.
