I went to Sacramento yesterday, and I'm not surprised there are pretty flower scenes there. I left home at 4 AM in a raging rain storm. 100 miles down the road I hit some snow mixed in with the rain. A few hours later I made it to Sacratomato, and enjoyed sunny warm, maybe 70' warm weather, no wind either. Headed back to the rainy part of the state. It is pouring again right now.

Kerstin, I'm sorry that I haven't been following these conversations. But, I finally asked DH the above question. His answer is no, he doesn't feel that he is doing that. If we were, trying to keep old farming skills alive, we would have taught our steer to become a working Ox. (that is the only difference between a steer and an ox, education) We use a tractor, and other power tools, and that is his choice. That being said, that little Ox, a Dexter with horns way out there, would look very cute in front of a plow.
Well, I think you are in for a surprise, unless you make a sample first. Your handspun can still full. But it sounds like you don't know what the fulling potential of your handspun is. Of course, it will vary from one kind of handspun to the next. Merino will full very differently than Romney, for instance. If you have the same breed of wool as the commercial brand, the fulling rate will be similar, but still not exactly the same. Anyway, sample if you don't want a surprise.
