Denim rag rug
was hoping to make this 52" but ran out of warp - too much takeup I think, close to 30%. Other than that i LOVE it!
Rugs for the lot of you! #!
I put this ambitious warp on the loom about 2 years ago, 15 yards. I had in mind to do several rag rugs: denim, rags, and pendleton wool worms. I cut the denim strips way to wide, about 1 1/4", and beating this has not been fun. It languished for over a year, and I finally finished the first rug! I have decided to change the project a bit, and will be rethreading and resleying between rugs for different structures. Next in line: Summer and Winter.
denim tote bag
An old style tote bag using the warp to tie the bag together. The handles are fabric belts that i picked up at a going out of business dollar store. This time I wove the handles right into the bag. The weft is recycled denim jeans.
Denim Rag Rug
We had a house extension warming party, and I requested on the invites that people donate old jeans for floor rugs. I wound up with enough jeans to make several rugs. This one is about two metres long. I'm planning to dye 'skeins' of denim strips to make a more colourful rug next time.
