SAORI Woven Organic Dress
This fabric for this dress was woven on a SAORI loom by Tara on a ready-made organic cotton warp from Saorinomori in Japan. The fabric was made into the finished dress based on a design in one of the SAORI pattern books and modified and sewn collaboratively by me, with Tara's input and assistance.
You can read more about it on my blog - here.
Textures of a Woman
This weaving was done for an art gallery on breast cancer. The woman who asked me to be part of it had celebrated 3 years without recurrence. Some of the gallery dealt with the henna painting she had done on her head after she lost her hair. My purpose was to show the story of a woman's life in fibers, textures and color. The goal in breast cancer was to reach the 5 years without recurrence (signified by the gold fiber). I was very excited to have such good responses to my weaving and my hem/onc physician wants to put it in his chemo room for display.
100 Mile Fibre
This was set up for the 100 Mile Fleece & Fibre festival in the Parksville/Coombes area of BC. I took my loom with the local Salt Spring fibres and invited people to try it out. Have taken it off the loom and will wash and felt it and make it into a 100 Mile Bag.

Happy Weaving!
Blossom Tunic
Inspired by Cherry Blossoms and woven on the warp remaining from the Sendai Blossom Banner (see my project page). The narrow warp determined the style of the finished top.
Blossom Banner
This banner was woven at the Blossom Festival on Salt Spring Island - celebrating the Cherry Blossom season. The activities were raising funds for Japan for their recovery from the recent earthquake and tsunami. I set up my Saori loom and invited people help to weave a banner for Sendai, Japan. I also cut out some 'blossoms' for people to write messages on.
I took the finished banner to Hawaii to a SAORI Workshop to give to Kenzo and Naoto Jo - who were sending it on to the Saori studio in Sendai. More details and pictures are on my blog...
New Beginnings
Background to this weaving is on my blog at http://www.saltspringweaving.com/blog/?p...
Arbutus Scarf
This scarf was woven for my mom for her birthday. She chose the weft colour on a visit here and I bought some silk for the warp. The finished scarf is light and has a nice drape to it.
