8H Point Twill Towels
For the third version of this warp I chose shades of yellow with a red/yellow variegated end every now and then.
Tiny Blocks Towels - Warp #74
Here is the third warp of this threading, each tied on to the last. There are more avenues to follow with this design but I am ready to give it a rest for a bit.
Olive Green and Burnt Orange Pinwheel Towels
This run of towels looked fabulous with the pinch pots from New Prospect Pottery!!! I've been on a towel mission.....more to come! :D
Houndstooth Twill Tea Towel
This will be my first ever item to sell professionally. Houndstooth tea towel 16 x 30. I'm not sure how to price it, so looked around on Etsy. Prices vary greatly. I have an idea what to sell it for but want to check with you folks first. If you were weaving this, what price would you put on it?
Plainweave towel
Goal is to reproduce an older weaving. This is the sample. If it works out right, there will be about half dozen more. Even if it doesn't work out right, there will be about half dozen more - they'll just be a bit different.
Going Green with Dish and Tea Towels (rather than paper)
I've decided to go more green and stop using paper towels. I had 2 cloth kitchen towels to my name which were very old and worn out. I had no choice but to lock myself in the loom room and make some. :D These are pretty much samplers. Pattern 8776 at handweaving.net. http://handweaving.net/PatternDisplay.as... I did a little bit of overshot on some of them. To do that, I added 2 sets of string heddles behind the reed (it was faster than hand picking each time). The colors are #10 crochet cotton.
Kitchen towel with 8/2 cotton
I found this pattern in Handwoven and used it to make a towel for a friend. I have enough warp to make another one for myself which will be with a light green cotton, also 8/2.
I like the feel and heft of this and think it will be even nicer after a few washings. Even though I counted the warp thread numerous times, I ended up with too many. Those extra ones must sneak in at night when I'm not watching.
Nothing shows up an error like taking a picture after you are done weaving. So...it's not an error, it's a design feature which I probably will not use for the next towel.
Traudi
tea towels
I wound the warp twice as long but only half the width - and remembered to put a cross at both ends! I like winding the warp this way when I'm doing stripes. It's much faster to wind the warp, plus the stripes are the same width.
I wove each towel 37" long, then put in two shots of a contrasting cotton. I should have made the warp about 12" longer as the last towel was only 33" long.
I threaded the loom with a broken 2/2 twill - 1, 3, 2, 4 - and treadled 2/2 twill. I wove 2 towels each with the warp colours as the weft - so 2 blue weft, 2 pink weft and 2 varigated weft.
When I was done, I did a quick zigzag at each end of the warp, threw it in the washer and then the dryer. I then ironed the material to remove any wrinkles and flatten the edges. On the sewing machine I did a straight stitch on the ends of each towel, cut them apart and then did a 1/2" folded hem.
off loom measurements - 20.5" x 35"
washed measurements - 18" x 29.5"
