Embers wrap
I have taken the wrap off the loom, only to find that it is way to large. I lost count of how much I had woven some time during the process, and this is 250 cm. long. I need to decide how much to cut off, but I am a bit apprehensive of redoing the hemstitching off the loom.
Black Lacy Wrap
Wool blend, silk fabric stripes, mohair and novelty yarn create this lacy weave. Because wool felts, it is used as the casing around the non-felting fibers; such as the silk strips and novelty yarn. You can use this technique in the warp and/or the warp to stabilize non-felting fibers. 11″ x 74″ www.sdoakdesigns.com
Golden Mobius
Hand cut lengthwise, two and a half yards long and
over a yard wide of gold 100% silk fabric into approximately 3/4 inch strips, not
being exact on purpose to create more texture as woven. The
long fabric strips wound on the back beam just fine…straightening was fairly
easy as I kept the tension even with firm tugs on the warp while beaming.
I used the same fabric strips for the weft about 5 to 6 ppi . The warp was very strong; it was fast weaving and tons of fun. Finish by hand washing and drying in the dryer. Very,
very soft, a nice drape on the fabric and didn’t shrink a lick.
Saori Style Wrap
Fun project. Really pleased with the way it turned out. Plain weave, straight draw, 10 epi, 9 ppi. I hung the shawl on my dress form and started pinning things into place, then sewed. Noro King yarn, 4B, almost three balls, with various yarns for accemnts.
Luxurious llama wrap
Woven on ashford rigid heddle, 32" loom. Skipped 4 slots evey 12 slots to create vertical spacing in warp. Left equal space every 12 rows of weft.
Boucle Wrap
This is my third weaving project. It is a somewhat loose weave and has a nice drape to it. I used a 2" twisted fringe.
Big skirt
This skirt was all made of narrow strips that I was doing to test my new (at that time) loom for the 1st time. I used 'Woodstock' from the 'Park Bench Pattern Company'- she does a lot of patterns that adapt really well for handwovens. This skirt was included in the runway show at HGA Convergence 2004 in Denver. -It was a thrill for me because it really swirled & moved on the model, she made it look so pretty! (See middle photo) It now belongs to a dear friend of mine who's dh built me some beautiful patio furniture in trade for it, just gotta love the barter system! (for another version of the 'Woodstock' skirt, see 'Red Stuff' in my project file, I love her patterns!)
