Point Twill Towels
This was another run of towels to give as gifts. The warp stripe arrangement is different from the previous warp but the draft is the same. This elf had to work overtime to finish these by Christmas.
Gift towels 2011
The people on my Christmas present list are very keen on Handwoven's 'Keep it Simple' towels for all the good reasons that came with the original project - dry well, don't need ironing and look good. I decided it was time for some experimantation this year so added an extra colour to the warp and tried to see how many different towels I could make by changing the colours and the treading with a little help for Davison. Probably should have kept better records of what I was doing as half way through the warp I lost count of how many I'd done and seemed to be weaving on the warp with no end. I was very glad to see the end coming up over the back beam and I ended up with 14 towels, not 14 completely different designs but close to it, and used 9 as gifts and 5 for me. It was hard to decided which to keep!
Allover Stars Towels
Obviously I also did one of the four towels in a tabby, for gingham. The sett was a bit too tight for this, so I didn't quite get it squared. Still, I think it looks cute.
Houndstooth Twill Tea Towel
This will be my first ever item to sell professionally. Houndstooth tea towel 16 x 30. I'm not sure how to price it, so looked around on Etsy. Prices vary greatly. I have an idea what to sell it for but want to check with you folks first. If you were weaving this, what price would you put on it?
"Tiny Blocks" Towels - Warp #72
Here is another version of my 8H twill block design. This time I scaled the blocks back to about 2/3 the size of my previous towels in order to produce more texture. I am pleased with the results and made an effort to show the "bumps" in the finished towels by taking a few of the photos minus the flash.
This nine yard warp produced nine towels each approximately 19" x 28". They have a very pleasing hand.
