Shibori scalf
As an introduction to the technique I followed the instructions in Catharine Ellis's book "Woven Shibori" on page 38. The Tencel I used I had previously handpainted in a sort of Madonna blue, I was not very happy with. Yet ideal for this project as I would have to dipdye the piece once woven. Dipdyed in Indigo. For the Monks Belt pattern inlay I used polyester shoe repair thread.
Scarf in twill (handpainted warp)
This scarf I made from Tencel which I ordered from Yarn Plus. The material of the ready made hand painted warp was enough to make 2 scarves. The one in the picture was made with a silver grey weft. It has a beautiful drape and feels very soft round the neck. I hemstiched the fringes, left them unfinished and cut them off rather short.
