After a weekend Rep Weave workshop with Rosalie Neilson, I came home and wove this little runner using a combination of two block designs from her handouts and my own color arrangement. It will be interesting to see how well the Cavandoli Knotted fringe holds.

Notes:

Had to put this warp on my loom for a quick demo for two of my Seattle Weavers' Guild buds who asked to watch me warp my loom. I like the colors but wish there was a bit more contrast between background and pattern. Over all, this motif has possiblities for further exploration.

Notes:

These were three quick warps in order to weave small items for the Seattle Weavers' Guild annual sale. In all I wove 110 Coasters. For the sale I packaged them in clear envelopes and displayed them in baskets. Coasters are a lot of fun to weave because each one is a tiny rug and mini color study. Having a whole stack of them brings me joy. It's the "little things", right? I love to paw through them and find a favorite or two.

Notes:

I am experimenting with a weft faced. plain weave structure.  My warp is two strands of 8/4 carpet warp set at 4 epi.  The weft is 3 strand wool about 1200 yards per pound.  The cloth is 44 1/2 inches wide in the loom.  I really like how it is coming out, but at 48 ppi it is weaving up slowly.

4 epi vs. 48 ppi is the most unbalanced weave I have ever done!  Other than the slow progress, my biggest headache is that I get less than two inches of cloth per bobbin.

July 30: Weaving is complete!  I will finish it up after I return from vacation on Aug 9.

Notes:

I started these towels for a friend.  The colors are out of my comfort zone, but just what she likes.  I find that the 8/4 makes a good heavy towel and after test use (gave a towel to each sister for evaluation), I am pleased with the result.

I was weaving great on the towels and then a section of the warp just let loose.  I guess I just had a hiccup when I was winding the warp.  I had to put weights on the back of the loom to finish that towel, then pull the warp all forward to even it out for the next towel.

I have not got  the towels finished in good time due to the holiday and my illness.  Hope to be able to get on looms again in a few days.

I finally finished the towels.  I wove 3 to give away and one for the Beginning Weaving class samples.  My friend liked the towels and the color.

I had not addition tension problems.  I guess it was just a hiccup and the rest of the warp was fine.  When I re-tensioned the warp all was well and the rest of the weaving went like a breeze.

I wove a weft sample with several colors to decide which colors I wanted to weave for the towels.  I also wove a point twill section at the end of the warp (there wasn't enough for a full towel, so I just played).
