Notes:

I made this loom from the hickory tree I gathered, shown in "Trees, Barks, and Leaves", (plus another that I cut last week) using parts of the tree for natural dying, some for making baskets, and some for making swords and other loom tools. The frame is pegged with 3/8" dowels and then lashed and "woven" with hickory bark. It is 76"w x 87"h x 33"d, with the interior weaving area 52"x74". The warp can be wound over the top bar to the rear bar to increase the length of the weaving. The bar across the center will be a rear heddle bar which I prefer to continuous heddles.

Loom, baskets etc.

I agree with what your granddaughter said, you are a maker, but you are also a gatherer. I love what you did with the parts of the hickory tree. You are truly creative and talented. I love (actually covet) that wool basket.
