I found this pattern in Handwoven and used it to make a towel for a friend.  I have enough warp to make another one for myself which will be with a light green cotton, also 8/2.

I like the feel and heft of this and think it will be even nicer after a few washings.  Even though I counted the warp thread numerous times, I ended up with too many.  Those extra ones must sneak in at night when I'm not watching.

Nothing shows up an error like taking a picture after you are done weaving.  So...it's not an error, it's a design feature which I probably will not use for the next towel.

I love your last line-I will have to remember that one, when someone says "Why did you do that?"  I do my towels in long warps, and my "design features" wind up in my kitchen!!
