Notes:

Inspired by the Weavers Idea book to try some hand manipulated weft weaving.  Saw a shawl made of Brooks Bouquet in Weaving Made Easy and thought to give it a try.  I am hoping that the weave fluffs up a bit after washing (the example in the book is very close set).  However, on the loom it looks wonderful!

First time to do Brooks Bouquet.  The instructions were to use two shuttles (one for the plain weave & a short one for the BB pickups).  I wasn't sure whether I was supposed to do a weave back from L-R aftr doing the pickups, so I did a straightweave with the main shuttle, from R-L and continued for 5 more, picking up for the next BB from L-R on the next weave row.

This seems to have modified the usual Brooks Bouquet, so that there is a curving thread alternating left and right between each of the BBs.  Looks nice, though.

Very pretty

That looks wonderful. Is it also a shawl or is it for your table?

Variation

I like the variation you have made to simple Brook's Bouquet and the extra thread switching from side to side. Do post a picture after you wash it so we can see how the threads move in this variation.

Thanks.

It is meant to be a shawl, but we will see what it wants to be when it is finished!

Chance!

Thanks for the encouraging words.  I could never find out what you were supposed to do when you did the pickup row -- were you supposed to go back (to the right) or were you supposed to begin the straight weave from the right and then come back (left to right) when you had made the requisite number of straight weave rows.  I chose the latter -- it wasn't until I took the photo that I noticed that there was an extra "something" going on.

I love this comment!  It is how I approach weaving and everything else in life!

Sometimes things work out as expected.  Sometimes you get something completely unplanned.  In either case - enjoy!
