Notes:

This was a very interesting project because of how it came together. My friend was coming for a visit, and needed to relax. I thought she might like to have a hand woven item - but then it dawned on me - would it not be more meaningful if it was something we did together. I had a stash of hand-spun two ply in two different colours, and offered it to her. She had never wove before so it was really neat to start from scratch. I had never done a cooperative weaving project so for me this was going to be something totally new too.

We talked about pattern, colour, arranging the bands of colour, how the weave comes together - it was as much fun for me as I think it was for her. We worked together on the project for the week that she was here and with time to spare finished the blanket.

She, or should I say both, of you will cherish that blanket every time you see it.  What a great idea...Lovely piece and even lovelier sentiment!

thanks for that,

yes, it was a process of creating a very personalised "memory" for us.

Don't be surprised if word

Don't be surprised if word gets around among your friends, and you start having more frequent week-long house guests... (And that means you have to start spinning like crazy, too!)

What a great story!

Hi Sally,

ha ha ha the nice thing about my situation is I'm on one side of the planet and all of my friends are on the other - so its a bit of an undertaking for them to visit me (grin).
