Mom got me a floor inkle loom for my birthday, so I decided to give it a try with some warp that I had sitting around from a failed tablet-weaving attempt a couple years ago. I threaded up with a design from Candace Crockett's book, to which I added a bit more border. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it, but once I got it going and decided I really liked how it was turning out, I decided that it should trim my wool fighting dress - a full-length viking hangerok - around the top. I didn't end up weaving the whole warp - once it was long enough to go around the dress, I got impatient and decided I was done. I'll get pictures of the dress after I get it washed - it still has a spot of mud on it from the last time I wore it fighting!
Great admiration for your choice of colors and such fine work...lovely band.
Thanks! Now I just need to figure out how to post things on here without feeling like a weaving-idiot! So much terminology and required fields that just don't apply to tablet weaving....
I love your work! Do you do period costuming?
Dawn
Yes, I do, mostly focused on Viking clothing :)
Oh man that is awesome! I've tried tablet weaving once but it made my head hurt trying to count cards and turn quarter turns forward/backward. Love the pattern here!
It just takes a little persistence. Once you get the rhythm down, it's pretty brainless work :) This one has no counting at all. You just turn all the cards forward all the time.
I'm impressed. I just started my first card weaving project and I've made several oopies. Yours looks near perfect. Great job!
