Notes:

This is my "Little Blocks" design previously woven as towels (see warps #66-68) translated into rep weave for rugs. Nice rugs but I won't be weaving carpet warp with this dense a sett again.

Rags in two of these rugs are recycled materials from a previously woven and worn out rag rug. The rags from that rug went into one rug, the one you see here in front of my kitchen sink and dishwasher. I like really long rugs that catch the drips from the sink and both sides of the dishwasher. For another rug I knotted the old warp ends together and used them double to knit I-Cord for the "rag" filler. I-Cord is very time consuming but makes nice rugs.

This 9 yard warp yielded four nice rugs.

About weft

I am about to start a rep rug and thought I would use old sheets.  Do you think that cutting them into strips is best or can I rip them?  Wondering about the rip as it would leave those strings on the side.  Have you tried this?

Ripped rags

Only just noticed this question, so the answer is undoubtedly late. I do not rip my rags for rep weave. In fact at times I have ironed rawed edges to the inside using bias tape-maker tools in order to avoid a fuzzy edge poking through. This is a rare instance but I have done it. When preparing strips from sheets I generally use a mat, ruler and rotary cutter.
