The warp is Bambu 7 in purple, gold, navy and black sett at 24 epi. The weft is one long continuous strip, approximately 1/2" wide cut from a t-shirt thrift store purchase. Weft is alternating thick and thin yarn, thick being the t-shirt material and the thin being the cotton/mylar glitz similar in weight to sewing thread. The lining is made from new denim fabric with a patch made from a pocket from a pair of recycled jeans. The bag was woven on one long continuous strip, then folded without cutting to create the body and the strap. Directions are found on http://donisdelis.blogspot.com//2009/01/....
Wonderful combination of materials and construction. So many aspects of weaving and textile in one piece.
Thank you for sharing.
Have a joyful day!
the denim lining with the recycled pocket - very clever.
Thank you, Franco. The bag wove up quickly and I used about 3 t-shirts in the weft. It's roomy too! Thought I would sell it, but I like it so much that I think I'll keep this one!
Thank you endorph. I got the idea for a patch as a way to attach the pocket from a workshop I took with Johanna Erickson. It works and its functional!
This is a terrific bag! Your lining is very clever too! I love it!
Thank you Brenda. I appreciate your comments.
