Notes:

This warp gave me fits, as I didn't realize that the teal yarn was hemp until I caught the smell of it. It was very very sticky. I am not sure of the thread count as I made the warp too wide for the loom itself. I forgot to count the wraps with double threads as 2. So lots of weirdness in it. As for the design, I am just playing around to see what I can get.

For my next project I think I am going to try Laverne's one weft double weave.

If that is playing around, I

If that is playing around, I would love to see you get serious!! You look to have the technique not only under control, but doing as you want it to! And that is despite not counting and having weirdness? Its come out as a very good practice sampler and I bet you are far more confident with the technique now than when you started!

And you even managed decent selveges. Looking good!

Love the pattern

I really like the colours. The pattern (on the main pic) makes me think of pysanky patterns (possible inspiration for future?). Very cool.

Question about the Loom

I am thinking of getting a smaller loom to weave bands (I have a 32" Kromski RH).  I've looked at the Wave looms.  Just wonder what you think about that loom overall.  What are the best features, what are the worst?  Thanks in advance!

Just found this post!

I LOVE my little mini wave.  I did have a difficult time figuring out the warp board thing though.   Non of my other looms warp with one...they direct warp. I ruined alot of yarn for about a month.  LOL  I has a very sturdy strong tensioning system with metal ratchets, a cloth beam and a warp beam.  Once you over the warping thing it is marvelous to work on.  My best friend's parents own the company that makes them in California, Gilmore Looms.  She has the largest Wave, mine is the smallest.  I needed something more portable than her large one and I have definitely not regretted the decision.  When I need to go larger I will just switch to the backstrap.  I have used the backstrap but I have difficulties finding a place to tie up in my current living arrangements.  That is the only reason I needed to go smaller.  I had a rigid heddle, 32 in, but I hardly ever had the desire to do balance weave.  I prefer the creativity I get from tapestry and now from the warp face.  Please feel free to contact me if I can be of any further assistance.
