Bag made of paperyarn from Finnland. The warpthreads are pulled together, so that the corners contract and built the form. An experiment in multidimensional weaving. The idea came from a very old Vävmagasinet.
Very nice - you'll have to tell us how well it wears. I have some paper yarn (linen-based) that I want to play with. And wear is something I was wondering about.
How was the yarn to work with?
Hi Alison,
The process was not easy. The yarn is very tough and I had to spray the yarn with water. Every shot had to be carefully placed in waves. Later it had to be struck with a carpet beater. Hard and slow work. But now the bag is as stable as a basket and is determined to survive years! I have a very interesting Book about paper weaves from a german/ finnish weaver (http://www.webgarne.de/online/templateme...) . She writes that the paper weaving can be washed!!
Cheers !
Kristina
