my first attempt at a complicated pick up pattern. Had to give up at 6 inches when my brain melted
i don't blame you for feeling fried! ;) but its a fantastic job you've done with this band... lovely.
Well done. I looks terribly difficult. Where did you find the pattern?
I stole the pattern from a knitting pattern for some fairisle socks. Its just a small band of the design switched sideways
O my word! that is just amazing - six inches well worth it - an amazing feat of patience.
Amazing! What do you plan to do with the band?
It´s cute, and looks like Mapuche weaving.
Very nice work. I like that you charted this from a knitting pattern! I also like the fact that even your borders had a pickup pattern in them. When I am doing a pickup pattern I am so focused on it that I'd forget all about the borders. My hat is off to you! ~Annie
haha, thanks all for the comments. I honestly have no idea what to do with it. I may have to just keep it tucked away safe until i figure it out.
The pick up in the side is taken from one of the small peerie patterns used to seperate main designs in knitting. I have to admit I almost got carried away with more pickup sections but i realised it would be inviting trouble
I'm guessing I'm not the only one to do this (i.e. I don't mind being the silly boy who states the "obvious" - grin) but when I do an experiment, a sample of something and don't really have a "use" for it - I set it aside in a box along with all my others - for future reference - almost like a scrap-book. I'm often surprised at how I'll pull that box out and rummage for something I did months ago as an idea, or a clarification of something I'm doing now.
This by way of saying - maybe just enjoy it as a sample/scrapbook piece, a point of reference for other projects, or pieces of projects.
when fiber arts are used in different ways or mixed to get an end result. I wove coverlet squares that were crocheted together to complete it.
It's a beautiful band.
Ive started a notebook with my favourite inkle/tablet patterns so I think ill keep it tucked safely in there with the draft so i can look back. Definitely a good idea.
