These placemats are Two-Block Samitum. The napkin is crepe weave. They are all cotton.

These are lovely Enda.  I love your choice of colors, nice and cheery for winter.  Where did you locate the pattern?

Thanks! The pattern is out of Best of Handwover Top Ten Placemats on Eight Shafts. The repeats I worked out using either Fibonacci or Lucas series numbers.

These certainly caught my eye! Samitum is something that has been on my radar for awhile...sounds complicated. Is it? And what are "Lucas series" numbers?

I love these! Here is a link for those who might want to look at Lucas numbers and their relationship to the Fibonacci series: http://www.maths.surrey.ac.uk/hosted-sit...

Mock Damask?

Is this the "mock damask" pattern from the Top 10 Table Runners?  It looks so different with your bright colors!

Structure

The structure is samitum, a complementary-weft block weave similar to taquete. One weft on the face, the other on the back. The title was "Colorful Placemats in Two-Block Samitum" by Carol Powalisz. I found the Fibonacci and Lucas series in the Weaver's Companion, which I use all the time.
