Notes:

A fast and easy project with a great result. The idea I found at www.tissien.nl woven in white cashmere/lamb's wool. The throw is woven in plain weave. By varying in sleying and beating you get different squares. I adjusted the scheme mentioned by tissien into 8 picks per centimeter as the alpaca is a thinner thread.

Love it!

Okay, now I just need to learn to weave? I'm in Carmel, NY about 60 mi north of NYC. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Beautiful scarf

Your scarf is gorgeous. Thank you for sharing the Tissien website. It is very helpful. Glad that I've kept up my Dutch! Veel bedankt.

Great project

I love this scatf. It also reminds me a little of one I wove some tome ago, only this is much finer. I loved the link to the Dutch site, too, and altough I don't know the language I still find it useful, a combination of Google translation and the bits of the language that are similar to English, German and/or Danish makes it very interesting.

I see that like me you have not managed to get your yarns into this new Weavolution system. I have considered giving it up and just writing about the yarn under the description section. I would love to learn in more detail what yarns you used for this.

Learning to weave

Hi Barbara,

I'm sending you some leads for guilds somewhat near you where you might find classes or a teacher. I don't know how current some of them are, but it's worth a try.

Indeed I tried to enter the yarn details in the list, yet no success. I used Baby Alpaca black Nm20/2 for warp and weft. For this summer throw/shawl I used 2 twistercones of 50grams/500 meter each. It's a very light garment. On the loom it looks rather gauzy but once washed and pressed it is less delicate and it feels extreme soft.

So lovely

Makes me realize how much can be done with just two shafts.  This is remarkably beautiful.  Thank you so much for sharing it.  Something else to put on my "want to weave" list!
