Notes:

The draft is from twill Thrills page 33.

This is my first very fine silk project. I have 451 ends and 2 floating selvedges threaded 5 to a dent in a 12 dent reed. 60 epi.

7th August - have woven the sample

5th September - weaving completed. Took a while to weave the two scarves but no real problems. I kept the selvedge threads well coated with beeswax and that seemed to prevent breakages.

Off the loom the scarves feel a bit stiff and even after wet finishing and hard pressing I am disappointed in the handle and drape. I think 60 epi may have been too tight a sett and I need to learn to sample more and try different things.

Many helpful comments from people on my blog with advice on how to improve the softness and drape of the scraves.

SO FINE !

That looks just so fine. I know Weavolution has a problem with showing yarns. But tell me, is that two shades of blue or what?
It will be another fantastic scarf. How do you find the fine silk is to work with?

Given the 5 threads to a dent, any trouble with the shed?  Very pretty!

Hi Ellen - no, just one

Hi Ellen - no, just one colour, a sort of lavender ! It is the way the light is catching it makes it look like two shades. Silk is fine so far. I will be interested to see how the selvedges hold out.

Hi Alison - no problem with a shed so far. The Louet Spring makes a good shed.
