Pamela Feldman presented her extensive research on how to prepare madder

the next session was a sharing session, my favorite was Dyeing with Annatto by Karen & Rufus Day

Donna Brown presented an overview on mordanting and presented a wealth of historic and new mordant paths

Diane de Souza demystified dyeing with natural dye extacts

Some of us took an hour trip over to see Tapetes de Lana, a spinnning mill

This beautiful color palette was across the street from Tapetes de Lana

Day 1 of the Earth's Palette Conference in Taos was VERY full, Madder, Annatto, Mordanting and Natural dye extracts were on the agenda. All the presentors gave an overview of the many choices that natural dyers have available to them to pursue color.
