This is the third in a series I'm weaving, depicting endangered species of Canada woven in tesselations. I haven't yet blocked it or finished the ends.
I love this project!
That is a wonderful piece!
Well done!
Have a good day!
Such fun! I love the freeing of the bears from the tesselation.
I just want to enjoy looking at this...it is lovely... and try not to puzzle over how it was done.
Thanks to all of you for your kind words. The bear images (like the real bears) become less and less frequent ...
Wonderful piece - what are the dimensions?
Hi Evelyn and thank you!
The weaving is 26" x 40" -- still not blocked. I'm hesitating on whether to wash it like I normally do, or do the full-fledged blocking with steam, or both. There is some variation in width between the heavily patterned area and the upper part, but only about 1/4" so I'm not too concerned.
Bonnie.
lovely!!
"woven in tesselations"? I don't understand.
What a wonderful piece!

Great project. I love tesselations. I never imagined weaving them. Super job. Are you going to share your technique? Or point us to more info on how to do this?
Bonnie, thanks so much for the links and info. You have done a beautiful job with this project. I love tesselations. When I taught school we used a program that made tesselations. The kids (4th grade) didn't fully understand all that goes in to making it, but we had a blast!
Fascinating!!! I too taught art and loved teaching my middle schoolers about reflections, rotations and transitions in designing tesselations. Of course MC Esher was the master but you are giving him a run for his money. I can't imagine how complicated it was to weave this as a tapestry!! It would make a great jacquard desing as well!!
So precise! I love the shading in the polare bears--especially under the chin! Their expressions really come alive. Thanks for the decriptions of your process!
