I was able to make the sample I was weaving to practice the “Moisy” technique, which I learned from a Guarani weaver here, into a cell phone pouch. The Guarani use a simple vertical frame loom. I used my backstrap loom.
The designs woven by the Guarani weavers in this technique reflect the lush vegetation of this humid lowland area of Bolivia. I cut and shaped the flap before weaving and simultaneously sewing a brown plain weave band around the edge. That was kind of scary. I thought the whole thing was going to end up in a frayed mess but it worked. The sides and strap are a narrow striped warp faced band.

As always, your work is stunning.
I like the background of your photo. Is that a floor?
Thank you. The background is a piece of fabric decorated by the Shipibo people of Peru.
Love the bag, love the strap. Nicely done and practical too.
