This is my first experiment with the stainless steel blend yarns. It is definately a "lux" project with the silk, cashmere and handspun. I'm hoping to get some interesting texture with slightly fulling the cashmere and handspun, and some interesting body with the stainless. I'm thinking of finishing with a beaded fringe.
Added pictures of the scarf off the loom before wet set and one after the hot bath. The last one doesn't do justice to the interestion dimention this scarf has. I'm still not sure how I'm going to finish the ends. I know I want to do something with beads, but just now what yet..
One of my guildmates used the stainless from HABU and it led to a small bit of crinkle/crimping overall in the final product. (I am not sure what % of the fiber she used in the overall content of the project.)
I am thinking the cashmere and silk won't shrink much, nor the stainless. What is your handpun—Wool?
I can see you are working on a Structo 240. Woo Hoo! I love those little looms! Don't forget to post again when you are done and let us know how the project went!
Weird, none of the yarns I listed on the project saved.
The Habu is the silk/stainless. The black is 28/2 nm cashmere and the handspun is wool. So the cashmere and the handspun should full/shrink a bit, though the handspun is BFL so it won't shrink as much as say, merino. It was left overs on a bobbin from a while back.
I love my little Structo. It is great for experimenting with and it travels to the yarn shop for fiber night really well.
I'll take a look at the yarn issue. We are working on a facelift for the project page. I hope to post a not in Improving Weavolution forum soon. I'd like input from the community.
I'm with Sally, please keep us posted on your progress and photos of how it looks before and after finishing. What fun@
happy weaving,
