Notes:

Every year, I weave one Navajo style rug using yarn handspun from raw wool and dyed with natural dyes. This is the fifth year rug as it marks five years of weaving in this style. Each year, my weaving improves in quality and detail. This is a nice way for me to mark that progression from year to year. This is the storm pattern, a personal favorite. This is the first time I integrated a water bug into the design seen at center top and bottom.

Love it! Nice to see mre

Love it! Nice to see mre Navajo rugs on this site. Wish I still had my loom... I see that you have very large 'skips" in your edge twining. I was taught to twine those edges quite tightly and was curious about the way you are doing it. Is that the way you were taught or have you just decided to go that way for a particular reason?

I am also excited to see

I am also excited to see others weaving in the Navajo way. I was taught to twist the edging about every 15-20 rows. However, I have not been following that rule. I am not sure why I do it the way I do- probably because I forget to twist them initially and them end up following the pattern I established at the start.

I have not even started to think about my next rug. I usually spend at least a month thinking, planning, looking a books and pictures, before I settle on a general idea. Then, I will need to do a lot of spinning to get ready...
