I took a class at the Mannings three years ago and we learned how to warp the loom f2b and include the supplementary warp with the ground warp in the process.  The draft we used is a Monk's belt turned 90 degrees so the treadling is Monk's belt and the threading is plain weave with the ground warp on shafts 1 and 2 and the supplementary warp on 3/4.  I had to put the ground warp on shafts 1-4 and the supplementary warp on 5 and 6 for this project because I had too many threads (470) to use my 4 shaft loom.

This is the 5th shawl I have made using this draft and this process and every one of them has been fun and has turned out really nicely. I am looking forward to finding different yarns to use for the next one.

That is really beautiful.

That is really beautiful. Lovely colours! Are you going to post a draft? I have never worked with the phenomenon ground warp and supplementary warp, - unless it is called something else here :-)

What a lovely and interesting

What a lovely and interesting fabric!  And a fantastic way to showcase an interesting yarn in the warp.  Delicious!

  This shawl is beautiful,

This shawl is beautiful, but it looks difficult for a beginner like me.  Was it challenging or frustrating to work with all those different warp yarns?  Well, even if it might have been, it sure looks worth it!  It is gorgeous!

Is it just the lighting or did I see some beads in there?

(This is the first time I wrote a "comment".  Did I do it right?)

Hey Kim, Thank you. Not sure

Hey Kim,

Thank you. Not sure the beads are visible. I'll try to post the draft next week.

It is not difficult if you can read a draft and follow a treadling plan. It is plain weave but shafts 3 and 4 need to be lifted to create floats for the supplemental yarns (ribbons in this shawl). Thee beads did not go through the reed; I should have used a larger reed , some of the yarns in the supplemental warp were frayed with the 10-dent reed.

Thanks for the compliments. I am proud of the results. I had a lot of help and never would have gotten the 10/2 yarn threaded without my friend Kim.
