low and behold, as I reread Lanaset instructions again, I was troubled, to say the least, that I was reading the C. temps. as F. temps. So I never was getting my fiber up to the higher temp. range. I think this would explain why the exhaust is not complete, and the fiber is 5G instead of 5GY. Back to the drawing board. I am sooooo glad I discovered this now:p

the correct temp. changes the color. the one on top was brought to the correct temp. The exhaust is better too. won't let me  upload another right now but will try again latter.

Better exhaust has more red and yellow in the silk, eh.

The different colors of exhaust from different temps. I can still see some gold left in the lighter exhaust. Tried less Glaubers salt for the next run, got the same color and exhaust.

did you see any other effect of less salt? If not return it to the small amount you used orginally and leave out the A. SET.

The exhaust looks better and maybe as good as it gets.  But with a pale color I would expect nearly colorless. Is the pH holding? how long a dwell time are you using?  When does the water turn this color? How cold is it when you take it out?

I can only answer two questions right now. The dwell time is 50 minutes and it is outside weather (50 F) temp when finished. The color is the same as the regular run. The only differnce is , and I know this shouldn't change ph, however less glaubers salt and the same amount of abegal set meant I needed to add more acid to get a ph of 4.7 The first time in any of the dye runs (7) that i needed to do that. interesting. As you suggest, I will try the original measurements of Glaubers salt and no abegal set and see what happens. Take the ph and be observant in when it looses the color. Thanks.
