Took these off the loom yesterday. It's two identical towels in waffle weave mostly but a contrasting stripe in a color and weave type pattern across the short ends of the towels. Will post picture after they are hemmed. I'm new to weaving and I'm not sure if I'm supposed to hem them before I wash them. I will be hand sewing the hem using the yarn so if anyone sees this and has a suggestion please let me know.
I like to wash mine before I hem them, because if you hem them first sometimes the hem shrinks less and the hem is wider than the body of the cloth. Not my preferred look :( . You must stabilized the cut edge before you put it in the washing machine or it will unravel. I have serged the edges, or machine stitched twice or tie the warps in knots near the web so that it can't come undone-- you can then cut off the knots when it's out of the washer.
Good luck!
Thanks for the suggestion. I don't have a sewing machine (yet) so I will probably do the knots.

Very nice!!
What heddle did you use? Im so glad I found your project for inspiration.
I used 2 of the 10 dpi heddles and threaded it at 200% which is explained in Betty Davenport's book "Hands on Rigid Heddle Weaving". Then with one pick up stick I set up to weave a variation of waffle weave that is found in Davenport's other book on textures and patterns for the rigid heddle loom. If you do weave this pattern I would sample first and then wash and dry. It shrinks alot!. But it creates a thirsty towel fabric.
