As a co-chair for guild

As a co-chair for guild programming, I *REALLY* appreciate your posting student's work here from a recent workshop experience, Tommye!

I don't have time to visit a lot of different individual's websites and blogs when we are brainstorming for program ideas. I like the idea of a single weaving community and place where we can come to get ideas for programming topics and instructors to teach them.

Thanks for taking the time to do this! And what is most appreciated is that learning tapestry techniques and finding these weaving opportunities are hard to come by in the general weaving community. So happy to see tapestry get a little more exposure!

Thanks for taking a look at

Thanks for taking a look at the students' display!  I've been involved with programming for fiber organizations in the past and know that it can be a challenge.

I hope more teachers of workshops of all kinds will post overviews of their classes in action and/or finished works.  It is harder to begin with tapestry on one's own, maybe... so many little details that can make or break an experience with it.  There are quite a number of people teaching tapestry, either at their studios, in a school like the Folk School, and/or who travel to teach at conferences or for guilds.  Many of those teachers are listed at the American Tapestry Alliance website, http://americantapestryalliance.org  under educators listing.

I've taught a tapestry class at the Folk School several times in the past few years and it's been a full class every time.  When a friend of mine, Pat Williams, taught there a couple of years ago it was also full.  And, the upcoming two week session I'll do at Penland School of Crafts in August already has 9 people enrolled (limit of 12)!  These are only a few examples of the desire that's out there to learn about tapestry.

Thanks again for your comment.
