I made this for my granddaughter. I started it before a move from one side of the county from the dream home we built 5 years earlier to 26 acres in a very modest home so that we could raise alpacas. I warped the loom in the home we moved from and finished the blanket in the new home. It was so beautiful. I can't wait for our alpacas to arrive now so I can make one out of their fiber. She said after it was washed it fluffed out very nicely. I fringe twisted the ends. I liked it so well, I made one for my niece for a baby shower gift and now have another one on my loom.
What a nice story! Your relatives are very lucky. Did you change the weft in the other blankets?
Thanks Alison. I did change the weft and it turned out beautiful too. My niece's baby was a boy so it had to be more "manly". I checked out your projects and envy you. My youngest son is getting married in August and I told him I wanted to weave the fabric for my dress........like I have the time! But he said, "mom, you don't want to wear a blanket, it's going to be hot in August". I have yet to order the cones, but still would like to do so, maybe not for his wedding but sometime soon. Like I said earlier, we're getting Alpacas around June, but to do that, we have to finish the barn (electricity, water, flooring, vet room) and then there's a matter of fencing, so my weaving may come to a halt until we get that finished. It is a very busy year for us this year, graduation, wedding, 10th anniversary, animals..........but it is all good, God has been very good to us.
And, my blanket made it into my granddaughter's 6 month pictures..........yay! She looks good laying on it.
