Hi all,
Just wanted to give you an update on our copyright issues! After consulting with an intellectual property attorney, we've discovered that, while the majority of drafts are old enough to be in the public domain (some have been used for hundreds of years!), some drafts, especially the more complex designs in newer techniques (like network drafting), are indeed subject to copyright. While we have restored the ability to upload .wif files for drafts from books or magazines, we ask that you use good judgment in posting drafts. If you have ANY doubts, please contact the author or publisher of the book/magazine for permission to post the draft. We have added links to two sources of information, this article in Handwoven and this article from WeaveZine , on each draft page.
In addition, project patterns are copyrightable, so please do not post a pattern exactly as written in a book or magazine. It is OK to post it if you have changed something material about the project - the length, the width, the colors - but please do not post the pattern exactly as published.
If you own the copyright to a draft or project instructions and someone has posted it without your permission, please report it immediately to copyright@weavolution.com. We take copyright very seriously and will remove copyrighted content when requested by the copyright owner, and will ban repeat offenders.
Thanks for reading this, and enjoy Weavolution!
