The St. Louis Weavers' Guild is a not-for-profit group of contemporary textile artists. Founded in 1926, it is the second oldest fiber guild in the United States. Our membership ranges from the novice hobby weaver to the professional production weaver.
The guild sponsors ongoing study groups in the areas such as spinning, tapestry weaving, knitting, color and dyeing, depending on the members' interests. Workshops and programs are scheduled each year to bring in fiber artists from outside the St. Louis area with expertise in color, design, weaving techniques, spinning, dyeing, basketry, and other subjects of interest to fiber folk.
Guild members can sell and exhibit their work in the annual sale each fall. Proceeds from a special scholarship table at the sale support a fund used for educational purposes, such as full or partial scholarships for those interested in attending workshops and summer fiber schools as continuing education.
Meetings are at the Brentwood Community Center on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 9:30am and 6:30pm.
