I'm not sure that the hanging beater bar on my Varpa is installed correctly. One side is much thicker than the other. I have the thicker side facing the back of the loom. Is this correct, or should the thicker side be facing the front of the loom?

Yes, turn it around
Hi. I have the beater on my varpa facing the other way - with the heavy part in front. That way, the grooves that hold the reed are to the front. That makes it easier to center and adjust the reed in the beater while sleying or beaming on.The pegs that hold the crossbar are also facing forward.
