Structo 8" Beam modification

Sally Orgren's picture

Guildmate Beth R came up with a modification to the back beam of her Structo, using a sushi mat. You might want to cut it down a bit so it doesn't take up so much space between the take-up beam and the back fabric beam, but it's a great way to make that hex beam become rounded with a little tooth to grab your warp! (Thanks, Beth!)

And credit for the wonderfully colorful warp you see goes to Ruby Leslie, as this loom appeared in her "50 ways to weave your color" workshop at Jockey Hollow Weavers in New Jersey this past week.

 Lovely!! I need more

Lovely!! I need more heddles.  Not able to make them just now so waiting until hand heals.

I am so anxious to try my little 2 shaft Structo.  I need more than  10 heddles/shaft.  Does anything fit this tiny toy loom?

Looking forward to seeing what you choose for weft.  Light color will brighten and dark will tone it down.  Which way are you going?  Are these knitting yarns? How's the elasticity factor?

Claudia, learning through your experience.  Thanks for sharing.
